Before you arrive in Summit County, there are a few ways to prepare for your fun-filled adventure. The base elevation at Copper Mountain is 9600 feet above sea level. This can take a lot out of the body's energy system, just to breathe and get around!
So, consider these tips when you prepare for your visit:
Increase activity. Do a little bit of exercise everyday. Be sure to check with your physician first, but increasing your daily activity will help your adjustment to our elevation.
Stretch. Get used to doing some stretches after you have warmed up. If you don't know how to do stretches, a trainer or physical therapist can show you how.
Practice balancing. Snow riding requires "dynamic balance", that is, staying in balance while moving. So, take a bike ride or better yet, if you have in-line skates or a skateboard, go out a few times before your trip. But be careful, I don't want a pre-vacation accident to interfere with our fun.
Bring layers of clothing. Yes, it gets cold here, but many visitors overdress. We're going to exert some energy while learning to ski or ride. Having the ability to shed a layer or two will make the experience more enjoyable.

Rent good equipment. Be sure the rental shop takes the time to fit your boots properly. One pair of socks between your foot (as well as ankle and lower leg) and the boot is best. We have several good rental shops right here at Copper Mountain, and if something needs adjustment, you won't have to go far.
Celebrate gently. When you arrive, often the night before our fun begins, take it easy. Rest well, increase your intake of fluids (minimize alcohol), and eat a balanced diet, which will give you the energy for our time together.
Expect to have fun. We're going to have a fun time together as we explore snow riding. We will move along at your pace, and I'll show you some awesome scenery.
